DISTRICT ADOPTED MATERIALS
The Rincon Valley Union School District is proud to announce the adoption of i-Ready Classroom Mathematics as our new curriculum for K-6 learners. This research-based program is designed to meet the diverse needs of every learner, offering engaging and accessible instruction that builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
i-Ready Classroom Mathematics stands out by blending conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world applications to create a rich learning experience. Its adaptive tools and personalized supports ensure that all learners are challenged at just the right level, helping them grow both academically and in their confidence as mathematicians.
We are excited about the opportunities this curriculum provides to better meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for success in the classroom and beyond.
Carnegie Learning is the adopted math curriculum for grades 7-8. This program empowers learners with a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through its learner-centered, collaborative approach.
Carnegie Learning combines real-world problem-solving, hands-on activities, and adaptive technology to create a dynamic learning experience. Its emphasis on mathematical thinking and reasoning helps learners build the skills they need to tackle complex challenges with confidence. By meeting each child where they are, the curriculum ensures that every learner is supported on their path to success.
COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS FOR MATHEMATICS
The California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics are based on three major principles: focus, coherence, and rigor. There are two types of standards—the Standards for Mathematical Practice and Standards for Mathematical Content—that together define the mathematics students need to understand, know, and be able to do at each grade level.
COMMON CORE MATHEMATICS OVERVIEW BY GRADE LEVEL
Common Core standards set an expectation of understanding for every grade level and they prepare students for higher mathematics. Each overview below provides information on the big topics taught in Kindergarten through grade 8.
