1. Narrative description of the Prop 28 arts education program(s) funded:The Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act (Proposition 28) requires local education agencies to complete an annual report to the governing board, reporting expenditure of funds. Guidance on AMS program requirements and allocation of funds began in February 2024.

Rincon Valley Union School District currently provides robust music programming to nearly 3300 learners in grades TK-8. Each elementary school has a resident music teacher that develops appropriate units of study for learners, including but not limited to Orff, percussion, singing, xylophones, strings, ukulele, world music and cultures, song writing, music composition, and instrument exploration. General music instruction is provided to all learners TK-5 each week, within the school day; Grade TK: once a week for 30 minutes; Grades K-3: twice per week for 30 minutes; Grades 4-5: twice a week for 45 minutes. Music teachers at some sites provide biweekly music ensembles to some sixth grade learners before or after school hours twice a week for 45 minutes. In addition, our middle school provides orchestra and band before school to learners that are interested in participating.

In 2023-2024, Prop 28 funding was used to supplement and enhance this programming with the following:
● Music Ensembles: There was an immediate need to expand choir, orchestra and band ensembles for sixth grade learners at three elementary schools. Three music teachers were paid to provide this instruction.
● Musical Theater: A musical theater teacher was paid to organize practices for and production of The Little Mermaid, offered to sixth grade learners three days per week. Proposition 28: Arts and Music in Schools Funding Annual Report to the California Department of Education
